Plywood and foam-core are the main materials used in building this maker’s bug-out box, with two fir runners along the bottom so the case is not resting on the hinges. Inside, ZSNRA has packed a staggering amount of hardware which results in an 11kg suitcase.Share on Twitter ∙ Share on Facebook
EPROM typically is burned out-of-circuit in a programming fixture. When the time comes to erase the EPROM, just pop it under an ultraviolet (UV) bulb for 30 minutes, and you’re ready to go again. The EPROM’s quartz window allows UV light to strike the silicon die, erasing the memory.
TechEkspert wanted to learn about the nature of erasing an EPROM with the sun, so he got out an old EPROM and started hacking.Share on Twitter ∙ Share on Facebook
The USB solution for MSP430™ microcontrollers has been designed to make this process simple and straightforward. The device contains a USB-based on-chip bootstrap loader, and TI provides a Windows source project for downloading firmware that can be quickly customized.Share on Twitter ∙ Share on Facebook
Pairing a simple circuit using nanopower analog op amps with a microcontroller can monitor single battery cells and solar harvesters. Pairing up a 0.65 V/1 µA nanopower op amp with the low-power Cypress PSoC3 microcontroller and some simple external circuitry can yield a very low current measurement system, suitable for monitoring miniature power harvesting solar cells or a single-cell battery. Kyle started reading Solaris Internals (SI) this week, and in the first chapter the process model is discussed. he has read APUE, and has written plenty of C code; he knew what a process was, but he didn’t know what it was. How is it actually manifested in code? What does it look like? It’d been a long while since he last wrote a technical blog post, or really done a technical deep dive into anything of substance, so it was time to find out and maybe write a short post about it.Share on Twitter ∙ Share on Facebook
This guide is the result of almost two years of work by an small group of arcade enthusiasts to unravel the secrets of the security implementation found in one of the largest and most popular arcade platform systems. Thanks for this work it is now possible to fully preserve any CPS2 systems as original hardware.Share on Twitter ∙ Share on Facebook

GeoHot’s Comma.ai startup plans to release a semi-autonomous driving kit, Comma One, before the end of 2016. The $999 upgrade combines its camera with your car’s existing front radar (it won’t work with every vehicle) to relieve you of some control during your drive. It’s “about on par” with Tesla’s Autopilot, Hotz claims.Share on Twitter ∙ Share on Facebook
